Angels Landing Trail

View down the canyon from the top of Angels Landing
This is one of the most popular hikes in Zion National Park. Despite the relatively short distance, paved trail, hand rails and chains it is still very dangerous! The final 0.5 miles are sheer cliff as shown in the pictures below and there has been a pattern of one to two deaths per year from visitors falling off.
Getting to the hike requires a short bus ride from the main parking lot near the Zion National Park Visitor Center. From there, just hope on one of the busses that pass through every 15 minutes. Ride to the furthest stop and look for the trailhead across the street where you’ll cross a nice stream (which is great for cooling your feet off after the hike). You can either head right up to Angle’s Landing or go left to the Emerald Pools.
This hike is best enjoyed earlier in the day during summer months as the opposite canyon wall will keep you shaded. Some visitors bring gloves, everyone should bring extra water and good steady shoes.
